The Benefits of Stillness and Meditation
Shalom Y'all,
The beginning of the year I started a meditation course online. To say it's been beneficial is an understatement. So I decided to share what I've learned so far. Mediation doesn't have to be a painful experience, that's why it's best to do what works for you. I've been meditating all my life in many none traditional ways.
1.Reading Torah in a quiet space
2.When I'm walking or jogging
3.When I'm using my gift of creating new dishes
5.Connecting to Moma earth.
6.Breastfeeding my Sun
Like I said there's many ways to find peace, in a world full of chaos and confusion. Meditation is an amazing tool to teach children as well. Masai and I meditate every night before bed. I've found that doing this before bed helps him to sleep more soundly, and through the whole night. I feel if your children can sit through a whole episode of cartoons,or playing vidoe games, they should be able to meditate the same leight of time. Maybe not in the beginning, but over time.
Lol now there will be lots of tears, kicking, and screaming at first, however the long term affect will be definitely worth it. So center yourself and focus on what works best for you and your family. There's tons of health benefits to Stillness and Meditation as well check out this article in HuffPost from 2014! with information that's still relevant in 2017! http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/5842870

I Said I Wanted To Breastfed!
Shalom Y'all,
While going through my timeline on Facebook, several of my friends posted an article about Melanated Women's desire to breastfed is sometimes over look,or disregarded. I know this to be true because it happen to me!
When I had #1 at 20yrs old(22 yrs ago),I was super excited and nervous about breastfeeding. However I knew it was something I'd do,because I'd seen it done by the women in my family, so it was a no brainier. My ex-hubby and I were ready to take on the world... lol.
Unfortunately without me knowing the tramps(yes these TRAMPS that call themselves nurses)fed him formula/bottles. I couldn't understand why he wasn't breastfeeding and he refused to latching on. Breastfeeding takes more work. With bottle feed the milks right there.
Needless to say the 1st few weeks were HORRIBLE, he's crying hell I'm crying... just the worst week every. I felt like it was my fault. So pleased I had my Aunties in my corner telling me hang in there it gets better. When I called them from Chi-town sobbing one of my Aunties said Bookey(my nickname) stop right now and get it to together, and no matter what DO NOT give him a bottle or formula( lol old skool)he get hungry enough he'll figure it out.
So with lots of encouragement, tears LOT'S and LOOOOOT'S of tears we had an AMAZING breastfeeding journey. So much so that I was asked to speak at many different WIC meeting(in the early 90's geared for AA and Breastfeeding). So when #2 came along 2yrs later....I wish a ninja would!!! Er'body know and was VERY clear of my Breastfeeding wishes this time around TRUST😏😂!!!! http://www.upi.com/Health_News/2016/07/19/Hospitals-more-likely-to-formula-feed-children-of-black-mothers-study-says/7221468947378/?spt=su&or=btn_fb

Foods for Chakra Health
Shalom Y'all,
Keeping your Chakras balanced is key for overall health, mind temple and soul!!! So what you put in your mouth can either help or hurt your Chakra Health. Many people have told me,they can't eat a few of the ones I had listed, however that's OK. If you can find colors of fruits and veggies that are the color of your block Chakra along with lost of sunshine.

A Star Was Born(Masai Hoshea Long's Home Birth)
Shalom Y'all,
I've had several people asked me about my home birthing experience. So I thought why not just post it here on my blogspot. So here it is the day my life was changed FOREVER,in one of the most beautiful ways possible.
I had my other 2 Sun's all natural in a hospital (They're 23 and 21 yrs old now) however I was truly blessed with my healthy bundles of joy. Unfortunately the experience was the worst ever!!! So after getting remarried, four years into our union we find out that we were pregnant...a T-R-U-E shock to say the least.
So here I am pregnant at 38yrs old...yikes right lol total surprise! My last birth was 16yrs ago. So I had enough knowledge to know a hospital birth was definitely not the route I wanted to take. I knew I was NOT about to deal with the emotional drama, and mental abuse had to endure 16yrs earlier. I was older and MUCH wiser lol.
So for my now ex-hubby and I a homebirth seemed like the best way to go. This was hub's 1st natural birthing experience...lol he did REALLY GOOD!! I was in labor for 17 1/2 hrs!! My contractions were killer, however I know the reward would definitely be worth it in the end.
So throughout monstrous contractions I still had things that needed to do. So I set about doing them. I’m a chef, and cooking is a great stress reliever for me,so I cooked. I made homemade lasagna (for all the family that would be over the next day).,I also cook stew and cornbread (for my midwife and hubby for dinner that night) cleaned the house, played board games, drank water, juice, did the baby dance one last time. Lol not many can understand this, however having sex while in labor helps with the contractions. Hey it was gonna be six weeks till it could happen again😏lol). So overall this was the best birth ever. Even though it was 17 long hard hours of birth. The pictures with me smiling was about 30ish minutes before I pushed Masai Hoshea out!!!
http://health.usnews.com/health-news/health-wellness/articles/2014/05/09/moms-should-you-eat-your-placentaWe also decided to get my placenta encapsulation into pills. So if your pregnant or plan to become pregnant in the this is definitely something worth looking into. I didn't do it with #1 and #2,however I did with #3. Although I only used a few of my pills I definitely could tell a difference in my emotional well-being, and those firsts days of breastfeeding.
Also as is customary for my family for and a tradition that started with my oldest Sun. We waited 8 days to have our Sun circumcised. That was also the day we revealed his name to all of our family, friends, and loved ones in the form of a beautiful African Traditional Naming Ceremony.

Dandelion's Me Oh My!
Shalom Y'all
I didn't share are Water/Tea Fast Recipe yesterday it was my 6th year married, but 9yrs together. Today I'll share one of my favorite recipes... Dandelion Tea. These so called weeds are jam packed with tons of nutritional value to them,so there is so much more to this weed https://draxe.com/dandelion-tea/ . Last year I decided to come up with yummy way to enjoy dandelions. This year is no exception. Today I made...
Dandelion Wine
Dandelion Kombucha
Dandelion and Ginger Jelly
So grab up the kiddos and go outside and pick these magic weeds...let's get started on the unusual Tea.
6-8 Serving
4 cups fresh picked dandelions
1 gallon distilled water
2 cups organic sugar
1tsp vanilla extract
1 gallon glass jug w/lid
Strainer
Kettle or LG pot
Long wooden spoon
Place dandelions in strainer run warm water a couple, getting all the dirt(and maybe ants😅)off of them. Then run hot water over them, and let them strain in your strainer. Place your gallon of water in your pot or kettle, until it begins to boil. Once your dandelions are dirt, bug, and water free add the to your glass jar. Slowly pour your hot water on the dandelions. Place your lid on and let steep for 20-30 minutes. Strain dandelions. Add your dandelion liquid back into your jar add sugar, and vanilla. Stir to combine. Place lid back on,and let sit on the kitchen counter for an hour or so. Place in icebox to chill or drink as is. Any way you enjoy it is delicious.
