Healing…

June is the month my mom unexpectedly transitioned from this realm. One of the things that has helped me this last year has been understanding her ability to see the BIGGER picture no matter what.

One of her favorite sayings that she repeated often to us was to always have an attitude of gratitude. That no matter what BS life brings you,you have the POWER in how you react to it all(lol now mind you she was STILL a TRUE Virgo😅)!

So once a week since 6/23/24 I’ve written an affirmation of encouragement, healing, etc for me to remember her teaching, and to help me heal through this emotional time.

So I’ve decided to share one of my personal affirmations for the next 30 days. Writing each one of these has been so gratifying and rewarding. I hope they encourage you as much as they have me…Light and Life🤟🏾…

It’s All Good…

You're not behind! It's NEVER too late. You're exactly where you're supposed to be. Everything is unfolding as it should be. ALWAYS remember to be gentle with yourself. Trust your time is coming. Be thankful that you’ve made it this far~Selah

Black History(Mr. John Ware)

Born around 1845 on a South Carolina plantation,John Ware began life with no freedom, wealth, and no promise of tomorrow. But what he did have was grit. After emancipation,Ware headed west. First to Texas then Montana, where he built a reputation as a fearless cowboy and unmatched horseman. In 1882, he crossed the border into Canada.

There in the wide open spaces of Alberta he found a new beginning. In 1891, he bought land near Millarville and started his own ranch. A year later, he married Mildred Lewis, and together they raised six children—carving out a life on the frontier. As the region grew, the family moved again this time to the Red Deer River valley, near today’s Dinosaur Provincial Park.

The land was rough. Winters were brutal. But they endured—building fences, herding cattle, raising children, and writing a legacy with every hoofprint in the prairie dust. Despite facing so much racism,John Ware was known across the West as a man of honor, strength, and skill. He wasn’t just respected he was revered.

Black History(Ms. Mary Fields)

Mary Fields

was born enslaved around 1832 in Hickman County Tennessee and freed following the American Civil War. In 1895, Fields was hired as a mail carrier because she was the fastest applicant to hitch a team of six horses. Fields was also the first African American woman, and only the second woman, to work in the United States Postal Service.

She got her nickname stagecoach because she never missed a day of work, even showing up during heavy snow by wearing snowshoes and carrying the mail packs on her back. Fields stood six feet tall, and was a woman who commanded attention.

Legend has it she wore a 38 Smith & Weston strapped under her apron and could hit anything within 50 paces.

After quitting the mail route in 1901, Fields opened her own laundry and restaurant with the help of Mother Amadeus, the mother superior of an Ursuline convent in Toledo, Ohio.

Dandelions

These common weeds are edible from root to flower. The leaves can be eaten raw or cooked, the flowers can be used in teas or salads, and the roots can be roasted as a coffee substitute.

Meadow Garlic

Easily recognizable by its strong garlic smell, wild garlic can be used just like regular garlic. The bulbs and leaves are both edible and add a flavorful punch to your meals.

Plantain

Not to be confused with the banana-like fruit, this plant is often found in lawns and gardens. The leaves can be eaten raw or cooked and are known for their medicinal properties.

Wild Strawberries

Wild strawberries are smaller than their cultivated counterparts but are just as delicious. They are usually found in sunny, grassy areas and are a delightful treat in the wild.

Burdock

Burdock roots are edible and can be cooked like carrots. This plant is often found in disturbed soils and can provide a substantial source of nutrition in a survival situation.

Acorns

Star of Bethlehem

While walking and talking with the Ancestors and Universe I wasn’t paying much attention. However as I leaned I spot the Star of Bethlehem Plant! For those who don’t know much about the Star of Bethlehem it is used for trauma especially with birth(it’s also good for loss, death, and severe mental pain)I personally have used it in tinctures to help me deal with PTSD.

Here’s a lil bit more information on the benefits of “The Star of Bethlehem”. The Star of Bethlehem has been used as a homeopathic remedy for stomach ailments and possibly for cancer of the intestinal tract especially of the stomach. It’s most popular for treating mother and child birth trauma. A single doses of mother tincture, can be profound in stabilizing emotions.

Star of Bethlehem is one of the most important essences for releasing trauma. It is usually one of the first flowers practitioners turn to for those that are under serious distress, especially for those don’t readily seek or accept consolation. Supremely comforting, this uplifting essence will help to clear the blockages that we’ve subconsciously erected between ourselves and the memories of our most traumatic experiences,so that we can begin to embark upon a deeper journey of healing.

Those who are suffering from the shock and numbness of this type of trauma suppression might manifest their inward obstruction in a whole range of physical maladies including: loss of hearing, vision, sense of smell, bruising, water retention, arthritis, and chronic pain. Star of Bethlehem can help release these physical symptoms as well.

Trauma can take many shapes: new encounters, or very old wounds, physical or emotional abuse, experiences of war or violence, sudden loss, or a disruption to family, culture or society. Trauma can also be more subtle and incremental— like a relationship that has slowly taken away much of your autonomy.

If you are feel deadened, numb, unreachable or recognize that negative experiences seem to reverberate through you for a long time, then Star of Bethlehem might be one of your most important allies. Often given as a first remedy to those who have previously been unresponsive to energetic medicine; Star of Bethlehem is also an important essence for those experiencing any kind of PTSD.

Warming, comforting, and protective— Star of Bethlehem will create a cove of safety and reflection for the ultimate regeneration of the soul.

Reflexology

I’m not just a PROUD Sunkissed midwifery assistant and doula,I’m a talk about it,be about it type person(lol VirGO ish). I love to give my moms and families tried and true sound advice aka lived through experiences.

With that being said I’d like to talk about reflexology in pregnancy. I took a basic course when I worked with children and teen moms. My purpose then was to be able to help my moms and babies. Never understanding that 23yrs later those skills would literally be just want I needed to have a successful homebirthing experience!

During my 35th week or so Masai's Fresh Garden Eats from Dirt to Dish/Holistic Living Made Easy decided he wasn’t gonna turn around, but standing firmly 👣 first. I knew having a hospital birth was NOT what I was gonna do(side note healthy mom, healthy baby is always the goal no matter where baby is born).

So I meditated and fasted asking for guidance on what to do. My amazing midwife gave me pointers. So between her advice and skill I had reflexology was without a doubt a must do. I dusted off my book got some moxa and got to work. Within a couple weeks he turned and I was able to have the birth I desired😍~Selah

She’s Poetry

Wheeew baBEEEEE I need to get back to writing…repost from 2016💙

She was Poetry but he couldn't read

Even if she was in braille

He'd still be blind to her needs

He never understood her need

For protection

So I'm guessing

She's unprotected

Exposed to unnecessary elements

No shelter

She doesn't need an ice challenge

To realize it's cold

We're freezing

It's a cold ass world out here

No sunshine

Lots of rain

Little slivers of joy

Double doses of pain

Sh!!!!t

In her world they're all one and the same

Ain't no sunshine when she's gone

The right love can definitely change that song

Man

Cause when nurtured

She shines

She shines through like

Rainbows

Green clovers and purple horseshoes

She brings life

She breaths life

She is LIFE

Many have tried to stunt she growth

Those stabs in the back reveal all that

But despite she keeps rising

She keeps shining

She keeps climbing

Evolution

She can't stop evolving

She is the true meaning of Beauty from ashes

She bundles up her fears

Wipes away her tears

From pass hurts

Brokenness

Anger

Loneliness

The untruths she's been told

All the lies

They use to have a FIRM hold on her reality

Fearless

Now she walks boldly

In her essences

Thankful for all her

Blessings

Even those painful

Lessons

She decided to choke those up 2

No stressing

While yelling

PLOT TWIST

She's like a butterfly who's just broke free of her chrysalis

With brand new wings

Renewed

Even gold is put to the fire

Refined

So hold on babygirl don't get tired

Everything you've worked hard for

Your reward

Is just behind that other door waiting to be opened

Welcome

You are da’light

Neva stop shining bright
