 As we come to the end of my tribute to what Black August means to me. Don’t let the fuzzy warm feelings leave! There is still much work to be done! So many have sacrificed life,body and freedom for our(still not so free) freedoms. 

There are REAL prisoners of war that are still locked up, in solitary confinement, there are still REAL Black Panthers out here doing REAL work to ensure the masses never forget. Here’s a link with information on ways you can help.

Breastmilk for Healing

 Lol yooooo this is a repost from 2015! Man we used my breastmilk for EVERYTHING😅! 

Did you know that our breastmilk is FULL of healing properties! I have personally cure pink eye,stye of the eyes,stuffy noses, sunburns,cuts,rashes,dry skin mixed with shea butter/coconut oil for extra protein for bodybuilding,and a host of other things. So not only does it have benefits for baby,it has some absolutely amazing healing properties for the whole family💙💙💙!!!!

So on the 11th day we still going hard with the books I read that added much substance to my life. I remember when everyone was caught up reading “Think and Grow Rich”. It was on everyone I know bookshelf at the time. It was a fav of my mom’s as well. 

However when “Think and Grow Rich a Black Choice” came out she made us read it on summer break. Thinking this lady was the meanest person in the world lol! I now see it as preparation for bigger and better things. I was 12yrs old when I read this,and I think this should be a must read for all melanin children😍! Knowledge is POWER. Organize with family and friends, that is how the TRUE revolution begins!

Peaches 🍑🌿

We absolutely love fresh fruit and picking different fruits to make all our favorite goodies. One of my personal favorites are peaches. Peaches are so versatile and can be made into a ton of things in our household,from teas, cobblers,and wines to is a summertime staple! Check out our delicious and simple Peaches and Basil Tea.

🍑Peach and Basil Tea 🌿 

Whatcha Need:

2 cups fresh pureed peaches 

1 cup chilled green tea 

4 basil leaves rinsed and chopped 

1 teaspoon honey 

How it’s Done: 

Prepare tea as instructed. Allow your tea to cool slightly. Then carefully add your pureed peaches,honey,and basil. Stir until everything is combined. Chill for a couple hours and strain(I never do),and enjoy. We also like to add the tea to ice trays letting them,then blend for a frozen yummy frozen treat!

On the 9th day, of Black August I’m still continuing the education segment. Now this lil jewel I’ve had since I was 10yrs old. Because we didn’t have a T.V 📺 growing up my mom made us read a LOT,and write book reports on what we read. So this was one of many of those books. If you’ve never read this book it’s a must read...even for children. Knowledge is POWER. Organize with family and friends, that is how the TRUE revolution begins!

The Power of Smudging

 The Science of Smudging: 

The Science of Smudging: What Sage Does to Bacteria Smudging is the ritualistic burning of sage (usually white sage) and other herbs like cedar, bay leaves sweetgrass,or lavender. This practice is typically performed using a bundle of dried sage leaves,called a smudge stick, which is lit and allowed to produce smoke. The smoke is then gently wafted through the air using a feather or hand, while intentions of cleansing or healing are set.

The aromatic smoke produced by burning sage has long been believed to have purifying properties, and practitioners of smudging often use it to cleanse homes, objects, or even people. But beyond the spiritual and psychological benefits, does burning sage have any measurable impact on the physical environment?

Studies found that burning medicinal herbs like sage significantly reduced the number of airborne bacteria. In fact, the smoke from the herbs eliminated up to 94% of airborne bacteria in a closed space within just one hour. What’s even more impressive is that the air remained almost completely free of harmful bacteria for up to 24 hours after smudging. Some potentially pathogenic bacteria were absent even after 30 days in the smudged environment.

These findings suggest that the antimicrobial properties of burning sage could indeed help reduce the presence of bacteria and other microbes in the air, making it a viable option for air purification in enclosed spaces.

How Does Smudging Work?

The antimicrobial effects of sage smoke are believed to come from the bioactive compounds found in the plant, including volatile oils and terpenes like 1,8-cineole (eucalyptol), camphor, and thujone. When burned, these compounds are released into the air and may interact with the cellular structures of bacteria, effectively neutralizing them.
