It’s that time of the year y’all where the kiddos bring everything imaginable from school🤢lol. So this year I’ve decided to share my tried and true Basic Elderberry Syrup Recipe with you! Hope it brings shalom, healing, and comfort like it has for my family for the last 4 generations! Light and Life…
Elderberry Syrup RecipeWhatcha Need:
• 1 cup dried elderberries (or 2 cups fresh, destemmed)
• 4 cups water
• 1–2 cinnamon sticks
• 3–4 slices fresh ginger root (or 1 tsp dried ginger)
• 3–4 whole cloves (optional)
• 1 cup raw honey (adjust for sweetness)
How it’s Done:
1. Combine elderberries,water, cinnamon,ginger, and cloves in a saucepan.
• Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 45–60 minutes, uncovered, until liquid reduces by about half.
2. Mash berries gently with a spoon, then pour through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl.
3.Let liquid cool until just warm. Stir in raw honey (to preserve its enzymes and benefits).
4. Pour syrup into a glass jar or bottle. Refrigerate. Keeps for 4–6 weeks.
Dosage:
• Adults: 1 tablespoon daily (up to 3-4 daily if you feel a cold coming on).
• Kids (over 1 year old): 1 teaspoon daily(however never give honey to children under 1 year.)
For a little extra sumthin sumthin I like to add orange peel,a few star anise, for optional healing🤟🏾…
