Melanated History Month(Mr.Jack Johnson)

Shalom Y'all

It's Monday and we're at it again, celebrating who and what we are Beautiful and Melanated! To jump off this week we decided to revisit one of Masai Hoshea's favorite Melanated Hero's of all time Mr. Jack Johnson. Masai fell in love with an African American Match game that I purchased in early 2000 for his older brothers when they were younger.

So last year I decided to dust it off and pull it out for Masai and I to play. Man oh man I had no clue the impact this game would have on him at only 3yrs old. He wanted to play this game daily and hear about the amazing Hero's on the matching cards. Ms. Jack Johnson just made a REAL impression on him,and we've been learning all we could since. Just go to show your NEVER to young or old to learn.

Another fact many don't know about Mr.Jack Johnson is while in jail right here in Kansas Mr. Johnson reinvented the wrench! Yes ma'am that's right. Although the wrench was already invented, Mr. Johnson can up with a different version and had it patent on April 18,1922. tool that most people use often was not only invented by an African American, but by the first African American Heavy Weight Champion!!! So DOPE right? So check the link out to learn more about this awesome man.http://www.encyclopedia.com/people/sports-and-games/sports-biographies/jack-johnson
                                                                                                                  Light,Love,and Shalom
                                                                                                                                 SunniDelight💙

Melanated History Month(Mr.and Mrs.Marcus Garvey)

Shalom Y'all,

Today for our Black History lesson Masai Hoshea and I talked about true Melanated revolutionary, the late great Mr. Marcus Garvey! Mr. Garvey had one goal for us as a people and that was to see us self sufficient. Mr. Garvey understood the importance of having our own, and how much more further we could go if we as melanted people invested more in self sufficiency.

One way he work to help liberate us was to come up with what is now coined the Melanated people flag. The beautiful Red,Black, and Green flag! His wife came up with a pledge to go along with it,called 'This Flag is Mine' that can be heard at many Kwanzaa celebrations and the likes.

However there was a lot more to the purpose of them coming up with the flag and pledge. A song “Every Race Has a Flag but the Coon" was a song written by Will A Heelan, and J Fred Helf that was popular in the United States and the United Kingdom. The song followed the previous success of "All Coons Look Alike To Me”written in 1896 by Ernest Hogan it was one of the three coon song which "firmly established the term coon in the American vocabulary".

So in a 1921 speech appearing in the Negro World weekly newspaper, Marcus Garvey was quoted as saying…show me the race or the nation without a flag, and I will show you a race of people without any pride. Aye! In song and mimicry they have said, "Every race has a flag but the coon." How true! Aye! But that was said of us four years ago. They can't say it now aye!!!

This is personally why I think all Sunkissed households should have a flag and teach this historical pledge to their Seeds! Our household starts each morning quoting it along with affirmations, and prayers! Other way we work to keep Mr. Garvey's dream alive Masai and I have come up with different ways we could daily put into practice, what Mr.Garvey work so hard to accomplish for us. http://atlantablackstar.com/2015/07/23/8-things-about-the-black-liberation-flag-you-may-not-know/

                                                                                                                                 SunniDelight💙

Melanated History Month(Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson)

Shalom Y'all,
Today Masai Hoshea and I learned about Astrophysicists Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson! We read about some of his AMAZING accomplishments, and his contributions to Science. Dr. Tyson is paving the way for Melanated people in Astronomy and Science, just like the late great Dr. Benjamin Banneker did before him! https://www.google.com/amp/www.biography.com/.amp/people/neil-degrasse-tyson-20766239

Masai and I had a blast reading books about our Solar System and completing a puzzle of our Solar System. Check out a basic Autobiography of Mr. Neil deGrasse Tyson.

Homemade Nettles Pot

Shalom Y'all,
Well winter is here in all it's glory. Here in Kansas we are under a Winter Weather Storm Watch. Ice and snow a couple of the things I hate about the Midwest lol. Anywho we all know with winter comes winter yuckies. However for my family we try to come up with natural alternatives to bet the winter's yuckie blues.

This alternative to the nettles pot has been a lifesaver. If you have little ones then somewhere laying around is a "snot snatcher" I'm sure that's not the name for it lol. Nonetheless whatever you call them you probably have one or two laying around for the kiddos. If not you can grab one for a few bucks at most stores that sells baby stuff. Hope this little home remedie brings as much relief to your family as it has to mines over the years.
                                                                                                                   Light,Love,and Shalom
                                                                                                                                 SunniDelight💙

Kwanzaa 2016-17

Shalom Y'all!
Sorry so late, however here is our AMAZING Kwanzaa 2016-17 at a glance!!

Happy 1st day of Kwanzaa!!! This year our table is full of the things that have formed, and made us who and what we are today. The hub's(TheEnd TimeScribe)and I are firm believers in teaching Masai spiritually and culturally want he needs.
1. We have our ancestors photos to pay  tribute to those we have laid down the foundation.
2.This plant was started the day I found out I was pregnant(so it's called the Masai).
3.A Siddur(prayer book),to encourage us to seek the Most High's on a daily bases.
4.Our homemade Unity Cup
5.The 7 chakra(stones),to reinforce the need for balance so we can continue to fight the good fight.
6.Masai's homemade Kinara and candles(we had a BLAST diy😀)!
7. A Africa shaped keep safebox. A reminder that our history didn't start when we were stolen.
8. Seashells from the Dead Sea(and other parts of Israel),a reminder that this is not our home.
9.The veggies I chose to use are a reflection of the hard work Masai and I put in growing several pounds of yellow squash.

This year was Masai Hoshea's 3yrs doing the Libation with his Abba! It is always a true honor and a blessing, when we can pay homage to the ones who sacrificed for us to have the life we now enjoy.
                                                                                                                   Light,Love,and Shalom
                                                                                                                                 SunniDelight💙

Winter Yuckies!

Shalom Y'all,
I pray all's well with you and yours. As the winter REALLY start to kick off, #3 got a hold of the yuckies. However all praises to the Most High I run a well stocked Farmacy!

Masai is now bouncing of the walls HalleluYAH!!! Our nightly Kwanzaa outings did him in(however he refused to miss 1 day lol). Since we run our own farmmacy everything we did was natural and holistic.

1. Breastfeeding on demand is great especially when they don't want to eat.
2. Onions are great for purification of the air, riding toxins, and infections(in your sock or on your pillow).
3. Rest is definitely essential to healing (so no fanning around)!
4. He had a pretty high temp that broke within days,by using our o'l faithful   potatoes soaked in peppermint oil(in the socks).
5. My own mix of herbs to brake up the mucus. We add that to an old breathing machine.
6. Along with my homemade elderberry syrupy.

The elderberry syrupy and breathing treatment herbs can be found on my  site https://squareup.com/store/sunnis-holistic-delights
