Vegan Buttermilk

Since becoming vegan do you miss fluffy pancakes, cakes, rolls, biscuits, and cookies because of the use of Buttermilk!? Well I got whatcha need. Check out my yummy 4 generation recipe that's brought many fluffy treats to my family over the years❤️!

Buttermilk is a buttery, slightly thickened milk that makes wonderful and delicious biscuits, pancakes, muffins, cupcakes and other various breads. Growing up Vegan in the late 70’s there were barely vegan milks let alone buttermilk. So this was a recipe my mom came up with that has been a tried and true recipe for four generations.

Whatcha Need:

Makes 1 cup

You’ll need...

1TBS of key lime juice

1 8oz canning jar with a lid

7oz non-dairy milk

How it’s Done:

1. 1 tablespoon key lime juice,or apple cider vinegar(I’ve learned to make my own ACV so I use half and half ACV and key lime  juice)

2. Add enough non-dairy milk (of your choosing) until it reaches the 1-cup line; stir with a fork or whisk.

3. Put the lid on your buttermilk jar.

4. Place in cupboard.

5. Allow mixture to rest for 15-20 mins before use.
