Shalom Y'all
Today's Melanated Hero is Ms.Ann Lowe. Ms.Lowe was born in Clayton Alabama. She was the great-grandfather of a slave and the slave master. However armed with determination she became the first noted African American Fashion Designer.

Ms.Lowe was a favorite among high society. She was the one who designed Jacqueline wedding dress when she married J.F.Kennedy. Ms.Lowe was very successful,so in 1920 she decided to open up her very own dress salon called "Annie Cohen"! From 1920-1953 she worked on commission for Henri Bendel,Chez Sonia,Newman's, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

Several of Ms.Lowe's designs can be seen on display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.
